Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Pet a Cat ("the Bot") collects, uses, and safeguards user data. We value your privacy and are committed to collecting only the minimal information required to operate the Bot's game mechanics and features.
2. Data We Collect
When you interact with the Bot, we only collect the following standard Discord identifiers and game statistics:
- User Identifiers: Your Discord User ID (to associate your Cabbits balance, petting stats, daily streak, and unlocked backgrounds).
- Server Identifiers: Your Discord Guild (Server) ID and designated Channel ID (to track the server's cat name, happiness, and total server pet counts).
- Game Progression: In-game metrics such as pet counts, current happiness level, streak count, timestamp of the last pet, and last daily claim date.
3. Data We Do NOT Collect
We believe in strict data minimization. The Bot does not access, read, store, or process:
- Message content, chat history, or attachments.
- Personal real-world identities, real names, email addresses, or physical locations.
- Payment, banking, or credit card details.
- Voice chat audio or streaming data.
4. How We Use and Store Data
Collected data is used strictly to provide core bot functionality, such as displaying leaderboards, maintaining streaks, and tracking server cat levels. Data is stored in secure PostgreSQL databases hosted on cloud infrastructure with encrypted connections and industry-standard access controls.
5. Third-Party Sharing
We do not sell, rent, monetize, or share your data with any third-party advertisers, brokers, or external services.
6. Public Server Leaderboards & Opt-In Policy
Pet a Cat features a public global leaderboard where servers can compete by raising and petting their collective cats. To protect server privacy and prevent unauthorized server listings:
- Disabled by Default: Server sharing on the global leaderboard is disabled by default for all servers. A server's name and cat statistics will not be shared on public global rankings unless explicitly authorized by a server administrator.
- Admin Opt-In: Server administrators (members with the
Manage ServerorAdministratorpermission) can choose to opt in and feature their server on the global leaderboard at any time using/leaderboard privacy setting: Enable Sharingor via the interactive buttons in/leaderboard privacy. - Admin Opt-Out: Server administrators can revoke sharing and opt out at any time using
/leaderboard privacy setting: Disable Sharing. Disabling sharing immediately hides the server and its cat from the public global leaderboard. - Server-Internal Leaderboards: Internal server pet rankings (accessible via
/leaderboard view) remain fully accessible to server members and are never exposed outside that server.
7. Data Retention and Deletion Requests
Data is retained as long as the Bot remains in your server or your user account is active. If you wish to have your user data or your server's data permanently deleted from our database:
- Join our Support Server and open a request with the development team.
- Upon verification, your user or server records will be permanently removed within 30 days.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect new bot features or legal requirements. Updates will be posted to this page with an updated revision date.
